Job Title: Technical Writer

 Job Overview

I am looking for an intermediate-to-senior technical writer to develop, write, and produce documentation for one of my client’s flagship products. You will write documentation for a range of audiences and work with the writing manager and another writer to accomplish a variety of writing-related tasks. We are currently single-sourcing online help and PDF guides using FrameMaker and WebWorks Professional Publisher.

 

Our web-based enterprise application is highly customizable through the use of Java-based configuration properties. In addition, we use a proprietary query language for building functions that manipulate database data for reporting purposes. We are specifically looking for a writer with substantial technical depth and experience to work in these areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Write high-quality product documentation, including application developer, system administrator, user, and release guides
  • Work closely with developers, product management, and the Client Services Group to gain information and knowledge
  • Participate in a team environment, including design reviews
  •  Work with the application to develop documentation content and examples
  • Work with your manager to create project plans and schedules and to communicate documentation status

Requirements:

  • Five-plus years of technical writing experience
  • Experienced FrameMaker user
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in technical communication, computer science, or a relevant discipline with a minor or certificate in technical writing
  • Experience with bug tracking and source control systems
  • Knowledge of online help systems and tools
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and be flexible
