Hiring: Director of Employee Relations/HR

ABOUT THE POSITION:

This newly created position will report to the Vice President of Human Resources and will provide leadership, direction and tactical management in the areas of: Employee Relations, Employee Communication and Policy & Procedure Development. This position will be accountable for creating and maintaining successful programs on both strategic and operational levels. Matrix management of geographically diverse (Mexico as well as United States) HR Field Representatives is an inherent part of the position.

Responsibilities:

EMPLOYEE RELATIONS
• Conduct Employee Relations investigations and recommend appropriate action in a manner consistent with client’s culture and legal parameters
• Provide oversight and subject matter expertise to ensure standardization of service delivery and tracking of Employee Relations activities across a geographically diverse workforce
• Counsel employees & managers on job related issues to include: conflict resolution recommendations, career growth opportunities, work-life balance issues, and policy and procedure interpretation
• Manage the performance evaluation process for all employees

EMPLOYEE COMMUNICATIONS:
• Plan and execute the State of the Company meetings
• Create employee communications
• Conduct the employee survey and work with the organization to create and implement action plans resulting from the acquired information
• Work with Information Services to develop internal website communications

POLICIES & PROCEDURES:
• Evaluate and analyze current HR polices and procedures
• Work with vendors, HR team and/or internal customers to implement positive and efficient policies & procedures
• Document SOP’s and communicate process to internal customers
• Update and maintain the Employee Handbook

LEGAL COMPLIANCE: Ensure that the company is in compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.

LABOR CONTRACTS: Responsible for all union negotiations and contracts, as well as compliance with all collective bargaining agreements.

Required Experience & Qualifications:

• A minimum of 8 – 10 years of exempt level experience in HR, with focus and expertise in one or more of the specialty areas as well as broad knowledge of HR functions.
• BA/BS Degree in Human Resources or related field (law, business, psychology, etc.), or equivalent related work experience. Advanced degree and/or additional training in specialty areas strongly preferred.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in a manner consistent with position requirements and Client’s values
• Must have experience in the application of employment law
• Solid business acumen fused with a customer service orientation
• Must have the ability to drive a project from process development through documentation and successful implementation
• Exceptional communication skills on all levels: listening, verbal, written and presentation
• Proven leadership & coaching skills
• Demonstrated business maturity and presence
• Strong flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities
• The ability to build and maintain effective rapport with teammates, employees and managers
• Effective use of business software such as MS Office required; experience and familiarity with HRIS systems a plus
• Bilingual in English/Spanish a very big plus
