Hiring: Web Developer/Information Coordinator-Research

This is an opportunity located on the Central Coast for a very successful Ag Company:

PURPOSE: Collects, summarizes, and catalogs data in a timely and useful manner so client’s employees and growers can benefit from all sources of research.

JOB SUMMARY: The Information Coordinator will use their excellent computer skills to ensure that research data is always available for use and will creatively and actively manage the Research Department web site. The Information Coordinator acts as a “number cruncher” for research projects and will also gather scientific data from external sources for cataloging and sharing.

QUALIFICATION: B.A. degree in an appropriate scientific field or equivalent experience required. Excellent written skill in English is necessary. The successful candidate will be expert with common computer software (Word/Excel) and be willing and able to learn to become expert in Client’s proprietary database and information systems. The Information Coordinator should understand how to acquire scientific data from electronic and library sources and be detail-oriented, organized, and have effective verbal skills. Experience with statistical analysis and skill with Spanish would be a plus. Must be a self-starter and have the ability to work independently and with growers, team members and management, and to work extended hours when requested.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Website management: Edit and update the front page, report new findings and exciting developments. Transform documents to and from Word, PDF, etc. as needed. Create hyperlinks in stored documents to allow for cross linking information. Monitor discussions and conversations to ensure the professional tone of the website

Data management: Manage uploads to the database system from all sources. Act as a gatekeeper to ensure the formatting for research reports fits specifications.

Library: Collect and help summarize data from all sources and add these to the database system and web site.

Data acquisition: Stay in touch with and acquire any new reports or journal articles that may impact our work. Be familiar with research questions and separate the useful from the not-useful.

Reporting: Generate relevant reports when requested and distribute them to all interested parties within the company.

Other: Cross-functional work with Breeding, Nursery, and worldwide members of the research database system.: Follow Company policies and practices while representing client in an ethical and business-like manner in all interactions with growers, employees, government agencies, customers, etc. Maintain the confidentiality of all Client’s proprietary information.
